Short Bio:
Matthew Thomas "Matt" Holliday (born January 15, 1980, in Stillwater, Oklahoma) is the starting left fielder for the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies drafted Holliday in the seventh round of the 1998 draft. Along with Rockies third baseman Garrett Atkins, Holliday is considered the new face of the Rockies franchise as the Todd Helton era eventually comes to a close.

Outside Baseball:
Holliday and his wife, Leslee, have two sons, Jackson (born December 4, 2003) and Ethan (born February 23, 2007). He is the son of former Oklahoma State University (and current North Carolina State associate head coach) Tom Holliday and the nephew of Rockies scout Dave Holliday. Holliday has a brother, Josh, who is currently an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Arizona State University baseball team after leaving his position as an assistant coach at Georgia Tech. Holliday's brother also pitched to him during the 2007 Home Run Derby at AT&T Park in San Francisco.

BTP Outlook
Matt Holliday is coming of a phenomenal year in 2007 where he was narrowly edged out for the National League MVP title by Jimmy Rollins of the Philadelphia Phillies. On January 18, 2008, Holliday signed a two-year, $23 million contract with the Rockies, covering his final two years of arbitration which should put some fire into his swing.

Matt Holliday seems to be growing stronger and more confident as a player which means 2008 will more than likely see him either equal or surpass his stats from last year.
