Baseball could soon have a new position: replay judge.

General managers recommended for the first time Tuesday that instant replay be used to help umpires on boundary calls — whether potential home runs are fair or foul, whether balls go over fences or hit the tops and bounce back, and whether fans interfere with possible homers.

I think it would slow down the gameplay and I think missed calls or bad calls are all part of the luck aspect of the game so I'm not for instant replay. If a game is that close, that a missed call clinches a victory then the team that lost missed a lot more queues than one blown call by an umpire.

I think instnt replay is necessary. Too many of the upms make bd calls. Let's face it, umps are tired old men who never made it in the big leagues. There has to be some secondary backup on calls to keep the game fair. Why the hell not ?

I've seen too many games blown on a bad call so I vote yes to use instant replay.

I also agree with instant replays.  I think the game should be as close to the fact as possible not what the umps thinks.  But if there are instant replays, I guess there wont be anymore blow ups by the coaches or fights on the field between the umps and coaches. roflmao

I definitely think on certain plays that instant replay would be useful but if it were used to decide if a pitch were a strike or a ball it could really slow the game down. They should probably do somethinglike football where a coach only has a limited number of challenges and if they lose maybe the team gets an out or somethinglike that.

NO!  Blown calls are a great part of the game.  Once you open the door to replays you change the game forever.

The issue I have with instant replay is where do you draw the line?  Do you use instant replay for balls and strikes?  Use it for reviewing only homeruns?  Who makes the call for instant replay? Do you give it to the managers?  Do you give the manager a flag to throw to request an instant replay (like football)?

I am open to the idea if it's used the way you defined it.  But I'm afraid once instant replay is implemented, people will want to use it for balls and strikes.

Instant replays are in favor of the game. Replays help to give the perfect decision without any error which is good for the development of the game. In fact replays are common in almost every game so it should be laid on this particular game too quite earlier. Nevertheless still it can be imposed.
